small foundation with a big impact

pets at Ngorika

We received the following message from Ngorika through Marion: “The boys Samwel, Ibrahim, Benson, Kibaeli and a few others have got something new. Wanyaga and the matrons were taken by surprise during their morning tea when a little rabbit came hopping out of the boys’ room. Am I crazy or did I just see a rabbit, said Wanyaga. Another little rabbit was hidden underneath a bed in the other boys’ room. The blanket hung over the bed onto the floor, so that it couldn’t run away. When the boys got back from school, they were told to go see Wanyaga. They were afraid that the rabbits were going to be taken away (or worse: eaten), but instead Wanyaga said: fix something for these little ones because they cannot stay on the floor in your room or in your beds. The boys built a beautiful rabbit hutch with twigs, thread and pieces of plastic. During every lunch break, they feed the rabbits. Marion called all the boys together again today, because I want them to improve the hutch. A whole lot of little ones are going to come soon, and the plastic is dangerous for the animals. Tomorrow I will take them to “Nouds Place”, where they have rabbits also, and the boys can then take measurements, and build an actual rabbitry at our school. I have plenty of wood and chicken wire at home to keep them busy. They have put their minds on breading and selling rabbits. Isn’t that great? I’m looking forward to what happens next.”
