small foundation with a big impact

new leader

bijeenkomst ter afscheid van Marion
During the work visit of Jan and Matti in August, time was spent on the upcoming change of management. Marion Hasselaar, who helped building Ngorika from scratch and brought the organization to where it is right now, wants to start her own small business school voor children who are not capable to attend secondary school. This is a very admirable plan that definitely meets certain needs. We (together with Good Hope) will not add this project to our organization nor financially support this project.  That is because we need all money that comes from donations for our current projects and in our eyes it is not wise to distract the focus of the management with such a new initiative. Therefore we decided in consultation with Marion to find a successor, and by this time we have found one within our own organization. Marion will leave our organization from October 1st onwards, and she will start working on her own project full time. As there are many overlaps between her project and ours, we will definitely work together in the future when it is of importance for the children. We are very thankful for Marion's great effort and the amazing goals she has reached! Last year, Marion put a lot of energy in the development of our team… and with success. We are convinced that Edward Mwololo, our head teacher, will be the perfect successor of Marion and we have talked about this elaborately. We are therefore very happy that Edward took our offer. We have always visioned African leadership as our ideal situation and we think that the management switch will lead to further tying of our organization. To watch over this process, Jan and/or Matti will visit Tanzania every eight weeks to help Edward in his new role. Our local team has been informed last week and the transfer is in full swing. During the next visit in November we will say goodbye to Marion.
